Fraudulent Email Alert

There have been recent reports of an email to customers claiming to be from the FDIC and attempting to trick recipients into installing unknown software to their computer. The subject line states “Check your bank deposit insurance coverage” and indicates customers need to download and open a personal FDIC file to verify their insurance coverage. This is a false email and should be deleted.

Please be cautious when opening any emails that you are not familiar with.

A Warning Regarding Fraudulent Text & Email Messages

There have been reports that text or email messages from, or on behalf of Union Savings Bank have been distributed.  Do not respond to these messages or download any information from an email, they are fraudulent!  Neither USB, nor any partner of USB will use text or emails to request personal or account information.

Please refer to the Important Notes below for other USB security practices or visit our ID Theft page for more information.

Campaign to Combat Fake Check Scams

Fake check scams are a growing concern in the U.S. today.  Studies show that nearly one-third of all adult Americans have been approached with a fake check scam and about 4.5 million have been a victim of one.  The American Banker’s Association (ABA) has launched a campaign to combat these scams and raise consumer awareness, to hopefully reduce the number of people that fall for them.  For more information about the ABA’s campaign and to learn some of the most common types of fake check scams, visit the campaign website www.fakechecks.org.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

It is not USB's practice to:

  • Contact customers via email, phone or mail to request or verify account numbers, security information about passwords or personal identification numbers (PINs).
  • Send e-mail that requires you to enter personal information directly into the e-mail.
  • Send e-mail threatening to close your account if you do not take the immediate action of providing personal information.
  • Send e-mail asking you to reply by sending personal information.
  • Send e-mail asking you to enter your User ID, Password or account numbers into an e-mail or non-secure webpage.
